The Department of Veterinary Medicine, Ethics and Jurisprudence was started in the year 1970 at Akola under Post Graduate Institute, DR. PDKV, Akola as one of the faculty of Veterinary Science. Consequent upon the establishment of MAFASU, Nagpur in the year 2000, and this department has emerged under independent Post Graduate Institute of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Akola. This department has an intake capacity of 4 and 2 annually for M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. degree programme, respectively. Till the date 75 Students have successfully completed their M.V.Sc. and 5 Students have successfully completed their Ph.D. degree in Veterinary Medicine. |

ACHIEVEMENTS |
- Evolved cheaper and easily available herbal medicinal plant to treat the various disease conditions in livestock and poultry.
- Extensive research on homeopathy medicine were undertaken to treat the cases of various diseases in the interest of availability of cheaper and effective treatment to the rural farmers.
- Extensive research work carried out on subclinical mastitis and evolved some herbal and homeopathic drugs for effective treatment.
Extensive research work carried out to potentiate the immunological status of poultry birds by using herbal immuno-modulators to save the birds from sudden immunosuppressive condition resulted from viral, bacterial infection, air pollution, water pollution and food toxicities due to insecticide residues. |

- Effect of industrial pollution on animal health and production.
- Use of herbal preparation on metabolic disorders in large animals.
- Use of herbal anthelmintic on helminthiasis in sheep and goat.
- Impact assessment of macro and micro mineral status of livestock in saline tract area.
