Gynecology Department

The Department of Animal Reproduction was established in 1970 for imparting post graduate training to Veterinary Science graduate students under Post Graduate Institute, Dr. Punjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola.
Objective
To impart the post graduate education as well as planning and executing need based research in the discipline of Animal Reproduction, Gynaecology & Obstetrics.
Academic activity
The admission capacity is four seats for M.V.Sc. and two seats for Ph. D. programme by course work annually.

Research Activity

Achievements:
 
    • Produced first ETT calf in Maharashtra Agriculture University 1990

 

    • Established the Embryo transfer Laboratory at Department of Animal Reproduction and total produced 17 ETT calves at farmers door.

 

    • Embryo Transfer technology with frozen embryos conducted in farmers cow in 1998.

 

    • A highly successful Embryo Transfer technology programme was conducted at farmer’s owned dairy farm producing 8 calves from outstanding crossbred cows and progeny tested crossbred bulls in a single trial.

 

    • Synchronized five thousand cows from three districts of vidharba region with two different protocols and achieved overall 49.19 per cent conception rate.

 

  • Imparted refresher as well as advance training to the technical persons from Deptt. of Animal Husbandry, Govt. of Maharashtra.

b)  Well established clinical hospital facility with ultrasonographical examination for gynecological cases to the out door patient
