Pathalogy Department

The Department of Pathology started functioning in the year 1971 at Akola. The Post Graduation leading to M.V.Sc. (Pathology) was started in the year 1971 at Post Graduate Institute Dr. Panjabrao Deshmukh Krishi Vidyapeeth, Akola, under semester pattern of education. After the formation of Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur, in the year 2000, along with M.V.Sc., the Ph.D. programme in Veterinary Pathology started by course work from the year 2004. However Ph.D. by research was one of the activities since the establishment of the department.

Teaching Activities:

Department offers courses leading to M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. in veterinary pathology by course work. The annual intake capacity of department for M.V.Sc. is four and for Ph.D. is two. So far, 60 M.V.Sc. and two Ph.D. students have completed their PG program. Six M.V.Sc. students under the guidance of the academic staff received various national awards. These include young scientists award, best M.V.Sc. research award of Indian Association of Veterinary Pathology and best articles on oncology in Indian Veterinary Journal.
