POST GRADUTE INSTITUTE OF VETERINARY AND ANIMAL SCIENCES, AKOLA
Preamble:-
Post Graduate Institute of veterinary and Animal Sciences, Library Akola, was established in the year 2009 to support teaching, Research & Development programme.
The Library develop, organize, and preserve the collection of different books, thesis, journals etc. Collection for optimal use and it provides links to remote information sources. The Library provide services, including instruction for information literacy and information management, to enable its users to fulfill their academic and intellectual needs.

Library Activities
Collection Development
Books :
The library has a collection of about 3107 books. Out of these, more than 1600 books are kept as reference books. The collection includes textbooks, reference books, manuals, Chart, dictionaries, encyclopedias and color atlases. Around 200 to 250 basic and advanced books are added every year for the users of the library.
Electronic & Print Journals:
Other than CeRA, Electronic (35) and Print (16+30) journals have been subscribed by the university library in the financial year 2022-23 Research articles will be supplied on demands by the users. The PGIVAS, library has subscribed about 05 Indian journals and magazines.
Library Automation:
Circulation activities of the library has been automated using KOHA Integrated Library Management System. Necessary equipment’s for automation of the library viz., computers, printer, scanner, barcode readers etc., have been procured under special fund allotted by University for up-gradation of educational purpose.
Web-Based Online Access Catalogue:
The resources of the library in terms of books, back volumes of the journals, M.V.Sc. and Ph.D. theses of all constituent colleges have been catalogued and the web-based Online Public Access Catalogue (OPAC) of the library is available at http://library.mafsu.in/.
Digitization:
The Library has started digitizing the thesis submitted after year 2000 and are available in digital format. The thesis are identified under e-Granth project of ICAR. All the digitized contents are available at Institutional Repository of NARS at http://krishikosh.ac.inElectronic Surveillance System:
Electronic surveillance system has been installed in the library to ensure proper safety and security of the valuable library collection. The system consisting of IR surveillance, cameras and monitors assist the library administration to track the movements of the library users.
Information Literacy Programmes:
The PGIVAS, Library periodically conducts information literacy / library orientation programmes to the library users. Awareness programmes are also being conducted for the benefit of library users regularly.
