  World Egg Day celebrated at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

World Egg Day was celebrated on 9th October, 2020 by Department of Poultry Science, PGIVAS, Akola. A state level online webinar consisted lectures on “Importance of egg in human nutrition” by Prof. Dr. A.U. Bhikane, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola and “Opportunities in Layer farming” by Dr. Atul Latkar, Managing Director, Kasturi Pharma. Pvt.Ltd, Pune. On this occasion, eggs were distributed amongst students, and farmers at the hands of Prof. Dr. A.U. Bhikane, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola. The programme was coordinated by Dr. M. R. Wade, Asst. Professor, Dept. PSC, PGIVAS, Akola. Dr. S.J. Manwar, Dr.D.M. Badukale, Dr. Girish Panchbhai, Dr. P.S.Kuralkar and Mr. P. L. Thakur took efforts for successful organization of events.

 
 
 
 
  One Health Day celebrated at PGIVAS, Akola  
 
PGIVAS celebrated “One Health Day” on 3rd November, 2020 by organizing a state level Webinar on emerging Zoonotic disease in India. Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane delivered webinar on “Crimean Congo Haemorrhagic Fever” to enhance awareness. Dr. Kiran Bhilegaonkar, ICAR- IVRI, Pune inaugurated the webinar in the august presence of Prof. Dr. V.D. Aher, Director of Extension of MAFSU, Nagpur and Dr. Dinesh Bhosale, MD, AB Vista Ltd, Pune. The dignitaries also released the Leaflet on CCHF. ‘Prof. Dr. S. P. Waghmare, HS-TVCC coordinated the programme and Dr. K.S.Pajai, Dr. M.V.Ingawale and Dr. P. S. Bankar worked as Co-coordinators for organization of webinar.
 
 
 
 
  College Foundation Day celebrated at PGIVAS, Akola  
 
The 51st foundation day of institute was celebrated with great enthusiasm by staff and students on 12th November, 2020 under the guidance of Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola. During this, the Associate Dean inaugurated the college webpage created by Dr. P.S. Bankar. Prof. Bhikane felicited postgraduate students Mr. Amey Jadhav and Ms. Sapna Jamgade for qualifying ICAR entrance examination and representative staff and labours for their efforts in cleanliness drive. Tree plantation day was also undertaken in college campus.
 
 
     
 
  University Foundation Day celebrated at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

The 20th foundation day of MAFSU, Nagpur was celebrated on 3rd December, 2020 at PGIVAS, Akola. The university flag was hoisted at the hands of Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola. During this, the Associate Dean appreciated the students who excelled in National PhD entrance examinations and addressed to staff and students. Prof. Dr. Bhikane delivered a talk on “Goat farming” at Patur Dist. Akola in presence of Mrs. Varsha Khobragade, District Coordinator-MAVIM. The guest lecture programme was coordinated by Dr. K.Y. Deshpande, Head, Dept. ANN, PGIVAS, Akola.

 
 
     
 
  National Milk Day celebrated at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

The PGIVAS, Akola celebrated the National Milk Day on 26th November, 2020. The programme was inaugurated by Dr. B.M. Thombre, Associate Dean, College of Agriculture (VNMKV), Ambajogai as a Chief Guest, presided by Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola in the presence of Dr.S.D. Chavhan, HOD, AHD, Dr.PDKV, Akola. The programme was anchored by Dr. A.R. Ratnaparkhi and the votes of thanks were presented by Dr. D. M. Badukale, Head, Dept. LPM, PGIVAS, Akola.

 
 
 
  Constitution Day observed at PGIVAS, Akola  
 
The Indian Constitution Day was observed at PGIVAS, Akola on 26th November, 2020 under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean. The group citation of Preface of Constituent was read by the Associate Dean and the programme was anchored by Dr. A. R. Ratnaparkhi, Technical Officer of AD, PGIVAS, Akola.

  Students appreciated for “Best PG Credit Seminar”  
 
The postgraduate students Ms. Ayanika Mitra, Ms. Kalyani Tayde, Mr. Shubham Thakare, Mr. Nitin Indurkar and Mr. Pravin Shinde were appreciated for their Best PG Credit Seminars at PGIVAS, Akola on dated 31st December, 2020 at the hands of Hon’ble District Collector, Akola and Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr.PDKV, Akola.

  Meeting of Prani Klesh Pratibandhak Samiti  
 

Prof. Dr. Bhikane attended meeting of “Prani Klesh Pratibandhak Samiti” a statutory committee for prevention against animal cruelty, headed by District Collector, Akola on 21st October, 2020. Dr. Bhikane informed about the significance of vaccination and Animal Birth Control Programme of MNC, Akola at institute.

 
 
 
  Visit to Goat Bank of Karkheda  
 

Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane visited the patented unique project of “Goat Bank of Karkheda” on 5th November, 2020. He discussed about the said project with Mr. K. G. Deshmukh, Manager and guided his team for sustainable development.

 
 
 
  Meeting with Hon’ble Minister  
 

Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane met with Hon Minister Shri Sanjayji Dhotre on 6th November, 2020. He discussed various issues and also pursued proposal of Skill Development Project submitted by institute for development of western Vidarbha region.

 
 
 
  Visit to Gorakshan Sanstha, Mhaispur  
 

Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean, PGIVAS, Akola alongwith Dr. K.Y.Deshpande, Asst.Professor and Head, Dept. of Animal Nutrition visited Gorakshan Sanstha, Mhaispur Dist. Akola on 3rd December, 2020 and guided the concerned about health control measures and nutritional management.

 
 
 
  “Berari Goat Breeders Meet” organized at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

The PGIVAS, Akola organized online meeting of Berari goat breeders on 30th December, 2020 under the chairmanship of Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane. 48 Berari goat breeders and stakeholders participated in the meeting. Key Speaker Prof. Dr. S. V. Kuralkar, Head, Dept.of AGB delivered a lecture on Berari goat and informed about breed characteristics. Dr. Bhikane addressed the role of breeders in constitution of effective breeder’s society and interacted with Berari goat breeders. Dr. G.J.Panchbhai worked as a Coordinator and Dr. H. L. Kanandkhedkar and Dr. P. S. Bankar worked as a Co coordinators for the organization of programme.

 
 
 
  “Awareness campaign for drinking milk” organized at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

The Extension Cell of PGIVAS, Akola organized awareness programme on 31st December, 2020. The concept of awareness campaign to welcome New Year by drinking of milk instead of drinking liquor as a resolution was proposed by Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean of institute. The programme was graced with the august presence of Prof. Dr. V. M. Bhale, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, Dr.PDKV, Akola; Mr. Jitendra Papalkar, Hon’ble District Collector, Akola;; Mr. Sanjay Kapadnis, Hon’ble Commissioner, MNC, Akola; Mr. Milind Dusane, District Information Officer, Akola and Mr. Vishal Kusambe, Assistant Transport Inspector, Akola. Dr. Bhikane welcomed all the dignitaries and briefed about the achievements and activities of institute. Hon’ble District Collector, Akola appreciated the novel programme organized by institute. Hon’ble VC, Dr.PDKV, Akola highlighted the need of milk consumption amongst youth for balanced nutrition. Felicitation of Mrs. Rajashri Bonte, State Youth Idol and livestock farmer at the hands of dignitaries was done during the event. The staff members and postgraduate students of institute actively participated in this programme.

Prof. Dr. A. P. Somkuwar, DI and Dean as well as Shri. D. B. Raut, Registrar, MAFSU, Nagpur visited PGIVAS, Akola on 27th November, 2020. Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane welcomed the dignitaries and introduced with various facilities available at institute. The compendium of International training programme and National Clinical Case Conference-2020 were released at the hands of dignitaries during visit.

  Research Cell organized a Guest lecture at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

The newly constituted Research Project Development Cell of PGIVAS, Akola organized a guest lecture of Dr. R. K. Ravikumar, Scientist E, National Innovation Foundation, DST, New Delhi on 24th December, 2020. He delivered a talk on “Current approaches in indigenous veterinary medications” to faculty and students of institute. The event was chaired by Prof. Dr. A. U. Bhikane, Associate Dean and coordinated by Prof. Dr. S. V. Kuralkar, Research Coordinator. Dr. P. S. Bankar worked as a co-coordinator for organization of programme.

 
 
 
 
11. Inaugurations
 
  Inauguration of various facilities at PGIVAS, Akola  
 

Prof. Dr. A. P. Somkuwar, DI and Dean as well as Shri. D. B. Raut, Registrar, MAFSU, Nagpur during their visit to PGIVAS, Akola on 27th November, 2020, inaugurated the Echocardiography (ECG) unit developed under RKVY Project, the Information Technology Cell developed under NCCC-2020 and the Canteen facility developed under the ICAR development grants.
